No, We Are Not Closing

The phone rang again this week. This time the question was different. People wanted to know if we were closing. A few asked if we had already closed. One bride wanted to know if her date in October was still safe.

El teléfono volvió a sonar esta semana. Esta vez la pregunta era otra. La gente quería saber si íbamos a cerrar. Algunos preguntaron si ya habíamos cerrado. Una novia quería saber si su fecha de octubre seguía segura.

Here is the short version. There is another ranch out there with a name almost like ours. Something got posted about that place, people started sharing it, and somewhere along the way the two names blurred into one. Maggie answered it on Instagram the same day: that is not our ranch. This post is the longer answer, the one we can point to when the question comes up again.

We are not going to repeat what is being said about the other property. We do not know those people, we do not know their story, and it is not ours to pass around. We wish them well. What we can tell you about is our ranch.

No vamos a repetir lo que se dice de la otra propiedad. No conocemos a esa gente, no conocemos su historia, y no nos toca a nosotros andarla contando. Les deseamos lo mejor. De lo que sí podemos hablar es de nuestro rancho.

Rancho Escondido on Ave 44 has been our family's place for years. The fountains are running. The palms are where they have always been. The arena gets raked, the horses get fed at the same hour every day, and there is still somebody on the property after dark.

We are booking events for this season and the next. We boarded travelers' horses last night and we will board them again tonight. Same family, same gates, same lights on.
