Rancho Escondido is an overnight and short-term horse boarding stop in Indio, California, about 10 minutes from Desert International Horse Park (the old HITS Coachella show grounds) and 2 minutes off I-10, directly behind Love's Travel Stop and the TA Travel Center at the Dillon Road exit. We host horses traveling in for the winter show season and haulers running between Phoenix and Los Angeles. Your horse stays in an enclosed barn stall, and you can park your rig and stay the night, with restrooms and WiFi on site. Rates start at $80. Ten Minutes From Desert International Horse Park
Desert International Horse Park in Thermal, the old HITS Coachella grounds, runs its hunter and jumper season from late fall into spring and draws horses from across the country. We are about 10 minutes away, right off the freeway, one of the closest overnight stops to the show. Come in the night before you show, grab a stall when the show barns fill up, or rest your horse between the road and the ring.
85321 Ave 44, Indio, CA 92203. Take the Dillon Road exit off I-10. You'll see Love's Travel Stop and the TA Travel Center at the exit, we're directly behind them. North on Dillon, west on Ave 44 to the property entrance.

When You Pull In

Yes. Park your rig on site and stay the night in your trailer, steps from your horse. Clean restrooms and WiFi are on the property.

Do you take walk-ins?

Any time. Late arrivals are normal for transit nights. Just call ahead so someone is awake to meet you at the gate.
What time do I need to be out?
Dawn departure is built in. Most travelers leave between 5 and 8 AM. No checkout window, no waiting on staff.
Are you licensed and insured?
Rancho Escondido carries property liability insurance. Owners remain responsible for their own horses, tack, and trailer. We recommend your own equine mortality and travel coverage for the trip.
Can you recommend a vet if I need one overnight?
Yes. We keep a short list of Coachella Valley equine vets who take after-hours calls. Ask when you book and we will text you contacts before arrival.
Are there hotels nearby for me?
Several mid-range hotels are within 10 to 15 minutes of the property along I-10 in Indio. Drop the horse, drive over, sleep, pick up at dawn. Ask us when you call and we can point you to the closest options.
Can I hand-walk my horse on the property?
Yes, in the designated paths near the stable area. Stay clear of the lienzo charro arena and the event spaces unless escorted.
